The reason we see Johnny as the perfect recipient is because the distress hasnt stopped there, after 6 months in hospital, Johnny was discharged finding himself in a grey area of ineligibility for care and support from the government, that has meant self funding all medical and equipment expenses that come with a spinal cord injury.

Due to being in the above grey area, Johnny & his incredible fiancé Charlie who were suppose to celebrate their engagement party the following weekend have now have to put the wedding on hold as all the money they had saved has had to be spent on therapy, paying for all medical supplies & even having to pay for his own wheelchair.

Johnny’s amazing Fiance, Charlie, has been exceptional in supporting and navigating them through this extremely tough, heartbreaking and stressful time, and although she is wildly capable, his biggest desire is alleviating the weight from Charlies shoulders and the financial burden that this injury carries.

The injury hasn’t stopped Johnny living life, having his first swim in the ocean at 6 months post accident, back on a surfboard at 7 months and competing in adaptive surfing 9months post injury. Johnny’s drive to recover from this injury has meant investing in rehabilitation specialists, bio hacking and coaches, taking a holistic approach to his recovery, recognising he needs his my mindset right.
